Perched on the hillside above Saranda, Observatory Restaurant offers what locals call "The Balcony of Saranda" — a 180-degree panoramic view of the Ionian Sea, with the island of Corfu glowing on the horizon and the Albanian Riviera stretching into the distance.
The Setting
Our terrace sits above the city, offering unobstructed views that transform throughout the day. Morning brings crystal-clear blues, afternoons offer the sparkle of Mediterranean sun on water, and evenings... evenings are why most people come. The sunset from Observatory has become one of the most sought-after dining experiences on the Albanian coast.
Two rooftop pools — including our signature cobra fountain that's become one of Saranda's most photographed spots — add a touch of resort atmosphere to your dining experience. Come for drinks, stay for dinner, or simply enjoy the view.
The Food
Our chef hails from Përmet, a small town in southern Albania famous for producing exceptional cooks. He brings that tradition to Observatory — fresh Mediterranean cuisine with Albanian soul. Local seafood from the Ionian, grilled meats prepared with care, vegetables from nearby farms, and that famous cheesecake everyone talks about.
The menu changes with the seasons and the catch, but favorites include our grilled octopus, seafood risotto, and fried kaçkavall cheese.
Special Occasions
Observatory has become the go-to destination for celebrations in Saranda. We host marriage proposals (with secret coordination and sunset timing), anniversary dinners, birthday celebrations, and romantic evenings. Special touches — champagne, rose petals, personalized desserts — are complimentary for those celebrating with us.
